Therapy types

EMDR
Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a versatile therapy approach that helps us to process events that may have been too much to make sense of at the time they happened.
It can also be used to process anxiety about anticipated future events, which can be especially useful for anxiety or phobias.
A key part of EMDR is Resourcing which we use to make sure you are able to ground, self-soothe and regulate before engaging in processing.
For more information, please see my EMDR: A Clear Explanation video.

ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is an approach that acknowledges that often our efforts to avoid feeling or thinking in a certain way can have the opposite effect, and make the problem even worse.
ACT uses tools to build our abilities in three main areas:
– Being present
– Opening up
– Doing what matters
Using these skills enables us to respond to our concerns in flexible ways, and no longer feel stuck.
For more information, please see my brief introduction to ACT video.

CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an approach that looks at changing what we do and how we think in order to improve how we feel.
CBT helps us to think about how we respond in a range of situations and experiment with different ways of responding. It also supports us to look at our thought processes, and see if there might be different ways to respond.

Self-funded 50 minute therapy sessions are £130 per session, paid at the time of booking. I also accept payment via insurance companies.
This depends on a number of factors, including the focus of the therapy and the frequency of sessions. People often report significant improvements after 8-20 sessions. I offer a free 15 minute introductory call in which we can clarify expectations.
I am registered to work with clients from Allianz, Aviva, AXA, Bupa, Healix, Vitality and WPA.

It is usually best to speak to your insurance provider so they can approve the sessions, after which they will provide you with an authorisation number. You are welcome to book a free introductory call with me at any time even if you have not yet spoken to your insurer.
